Fig and Serrano Ham Crostini

Ingredients

  • For the crema:
  • 2 ounces queso fresco
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 16 fresh Mission figs, stems removed, sliced in half
  • 2 ounces Serrano ham, sliced paper-thin
  • 1 fresh baguette, sliced
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. To make the crema, combine queso fresco, cream cheese, mayonnaise, buttermilk, and garlic in a blender; purée until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Crema can be made 1 day ahead and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  2. Turn oven onto broil. butter both sides of sliced bread. Line baking sheet with buttered bread. Broil until toasted. Flip bread and toast the other side. Remove from oven. Wrap sliced figs with Serrano ham. Place a dollop of crema onto each toasted bread. Placed wrapped fig on top of crema and drizzle with honey. Serve immediately.
